This page will include both the story of my garden in Ventnor, and my half-acre plot near Newtown. I will try to give the background of both, and then the ongoing stories. I will also relate what I am doing to permaculture principles, and also look at other aspects of my life in that context.

Great stuff Ken, I might even learn what permaculture is all about.

Hello ken,
I was wondering if wet summer weather is going to be a trend for us now. Can you think of any ideas for plants that will benefit from more water.
Wendy
ken, I planted a lot of seeds of salad greens and this has come up. can you identify it for me?
Not sure, Wendy. Have you tasted it?
Ken
Hi Ken,
I’ve been thinking about what we discussed last night near Wheelers Bay. Having had experience with running a folk club in Devon, I’d be prepared to give the Ventnor Folk Club a go. I suggest that we hold one on Monday, 29th Nov. – although that doesn’t sound very far away, I think that by word of mouth (and a poster or two) we could generate sufficient interest.
I’m further suggesting that we call it the Ventnor Winter Folk Club (for reasons too involved to go into now) but I’ll tell you more this coming Saturday in the Community Cafe.
In the meantime, can you confirm if 29th Nov. is OK?
Let me know ASAP and spread the word!
Wassail!

Hi Ken,
Lucy and Gavin here not sure if you remember us but about a year ago we went on a wild food walk with rowan and yourself in ventnor..(we really had a good day) it was a real pleasure meeting you. At the time, we spoke about the house we we’re building and the land we live on ( strawbale house on approx 2 acre plot with many alternative aspects.) Well we have now finished our house and have alot more time on our hands, and would love to meet up with you to talk about exchanging ideas, being more self sufficient, learn more on permaculture,etc.. and so much more… we have yet to visit the cafe as we have been consumed by our build, but will do soon. idealy we would love you to come and see where we are and have a garden meet, but understand if your busy.. Look forward to hearing from you.
many thanks,
Lucy and Gavin..
Hi Lucy and Gavin,
Great to see you have finished your house. I’d love to come and see it, and see what you are up to. I’ll be in touch
All the best
Ken
