Tollslye Plantation, Birchmore Lane, Blackwater Tel: 07794 345098 (It is a bridleway so beware of walkers and horses, it is very narrow) If you are coming from Newport towards Rookley when you turn into Blackwater Road it is the last bridleway just after the last house on the left before you start to go up the hill, follow bridleway for one mile, do not turn off of it, follow signs.
Saturday 21st June saw the opening of this new nursery, they specialise in roses but stock 1000’s of plants in 100’s of varieties, loads of alpines, perennials, shrubs, trees & climbers. I did read that it covered a large area but that is a slight understatement! I was very impressed with the amount of different types of Osteospermum (Cape Daisies) they have, beautiful orange and yellow ones plus another couple of colours I had not seen before, good selection of delphiniums, not forgetting the huge variety of pinks they stock, the perfume from them was wonderful. A lovely selection of a wide variety of plants, most were reasonably priced, staff very helpful. They have a garden club which will offer monthly workshops, discounts and a newsletter.

I bought a couple of plants from this Nursery on Sunday at the Rookley Gardening Galore Market, today as I was going somewhere else, I got slightly lost (nothing new there), was looking for somewhere to turn round when I saw the sign ‘Ager Farm Nursery’ so thought I would go and take a look. From the entrance it does not look as though it would be very big but this nursery is a bit like a tardis. They specialise in fuchsias, shrubs and climbers whilst having a very wide selection of other plants. Hanging baskets are another speciality, they had probably well over a hundred custom made ones hanging up awaiting collection. You can buy one of their many types of hanging basket or take you own along to have made up or just buy the plants. You won’t find heated gardening gloves for sale or other strange things sold by some of the garden centres just good quality, reasonably priced plants and shrubs. Top marks awarded for being friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I have to say this has to be my favourite plant nursery and is well worth a visit. Angie 6th May 2008

Hello Permaculturists,
I was a sent a link to your site from someone on Yahoo NativeSeedNetwork. I am looking for a source of local native plants. What I am after at the moment is a very small number of biting stonecrop and English stonecrop (sedums acre and anglicum).
If anyone knows of a source for native plants on the Island, or has plants I could take cuttings from, that would be a great help.

Springbank offered to order in something that I was looking for that they did not stock. Both of these are very helpful.
I inherited a rockery with this house last year, I don’t think that any of the plants in it are the ones that you are looking for but I will take some pics of them later today and put them at the bottom of the garden supplies page just in case you want cuttings from any of them.
