Come and have a great day out at our charity bicycle auction! We have 50+ good second hand bikes for sale and even a brand new one donated especially to raise money for the families in rural India – all up for grabs! Don’t forget it’s the ‘Island Cycle Week’the following week! So come and bid for a bargain bike and have some fun! Teas, Coffees + soup will be served. St Lawrence Gardens Open Day – Sunday 15th June
11am – 5pm
Several gardens will be open for the day you can visit them all for £2.50 per adult (accompanied children free) Buy your entry programme in advance from The Village Shop in Spindlers Road or on the day from The Village Shop, The Village Hall, The Shute in Seven Sisters Road or Morning Star in Hunts Road. Tea and cakes will be available from The Village Hall from noon – 4pm, all proceeds will go to the St Lawrence Community Association who will make a donation to Wateraid. Off street parking will be available for the day opposite the hall. Sorry no dogs except for guide dogs.

8m S of Newport. On entering Shorwell from Carisbrooke, take L turn at mini roundabout towards Chale (B3399). Follow rd until you see Kingston sign, house 2nd on L after this. Park in adjacent field.

Too far for me but at the weekend I got a bike anyway, to enable me to cycle to work. It’s 3.5 miles, mostly flat and mostly with off-road cycle paths so it should be a doddle and quicker than driving. Should have gone second-hand though, as the accessories alone (helmet, lock, lights, rack and panniers, etc) added £150 to the bill! I haven’t cycled (other than at the gym!) in twenty years so I think I’d better do a little practice around the local parks this week before I start in earnest…
